We don’t service, diagnose, or repair any vehicles, including those needing a diesel smog check or a smog certification. However, we can assist you with the smog test process.

In California, smog inspections are mandatory when you register or renew registration for a vehicle, but there are exceptions. For instance, your gasoline-powered vehicle does not require a smog test if it is a 1975 year model or older, which includes motorcycles and trailers. However, if you own a diesel vehicle, a diesel smog check may still be necessary for compliance with smog certification.

The diesel smog check will involve a visual inspection of your vehicle's emissions and smog components, a system check of the On Board Diagnostics (OBD II) system, a visual smoke check for excessive black (carbon) smoke, and an EVAP functional test. Vehicles that do not pass the diesel smog test will need to be repaired at a diesel vehicle repair shop before they can obtain smog certification and be retested.

All of our smog checks, including the diesel smog check, come with a smog certification. Please note that additional charges apply for the smog test.
